Martin Wickramasinghe Museum, Koggala

Dedicated and inspired by one of Sri Lanka’s most renowned writers, the late Martin Wickramasinghe, the Folk Museum takes the centerpiece which provides a rare insight into traditional village life in Sri Lanka over a century ago. A wide range of exhibits including a re-created village kitchen, traditional modes of transport including carts, a collection of masks and puppets and cooking utensils are on display here.

Towards the back of the garden is the house where Wickramasinghe was born and spent his early years, you can find a collection of photographs, books and awards that depict his private life and accomplishments as a writer. The ashes of the writer and his wife are buried next to the house within these premises.
