Arrival and transfer to Colombo (1 hour drive). Explore the Talangama Wetlands which are in the suburbs. Species often seen are White Breasted Waterhen, Red Wattled Lapwing, Purple Coot and Open Billed Stork.
Spend 01 night in Colombo
Morning head towards the Sinharaja World Heritage Site (3 hour drive). In the afternoon, explore the vast array of endemic found in the rainforest. Your local birding guide will be an expert in the species found in the area and will ensure the best sightings possible.
Spend 02 nights in Sinharaja
Spend the day exploring the forest trails in Sinharaja in search of the elusive and intriguing endemics such as the Serendib Scops Owl, Chestnut Backed Owlet, Blue Magpie and the shy Sri Lanka Spur Fowl.
After a morning of birdwatching in the outskirts of Sinharaja, head towards the central highlands towards Nuwara Eliya (5 hour drive).
In the afternoon, explore the highland birds found at Hakgala Gardens and Galways Land Forest in Nuwara Eliya. Look out for the Kashmir Flycatcher, Black Bulbul, Velvet Fronted Nuthatch and the endemic Yellow Eared Bulbul.
Spend 03 nights in Nuwara Eliya.
Early morning head towards Horton Plains National Park. Look out for the elusive Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush and the Sri Lanka Bush Warbler.
Visit Horton Plains once again and spend more time looking out for the birds unique to the highlands such as the Endemic Dull Blue Flycatcher, Sri Lanka White Eye, Sri Lanka Wood Pigeon and Sri Lanka Jungle Fowl.
After breakfast, leave for Uda Walawe (3 ½ hour drive).
In the afternoon, go birding in Uda Walawe National Park. Look out for some interesting birds of prey such as the Crested Hawk Eagle, Black Shouldered Kite, Shikra, White Bellied Sea Eagle and Grey Headed Fish Eagle. The beautiful Indian Peacock can also be seen with the males displaying colorful plumage. Seasonal rate migrants include White Wagtail, Winchat and Black Headed Kingfisher. You will encounter herds of Asian Elephant and if lucky may glimpse, the elusive Jungle Cat
Early morning, one last guided safari at Uda Walawe in search of dry-zone and migrant species.
Late morning, leave for Negombo (4 hour drive) and check-in at the Jetwing Lagoon. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Head back to Colombo for departure transfer to the Bandaranaike International Airport
