Early morning, go on a guided boat ride through the Dutch Canal and the Muthurajawela wetlands where you pass through mangrove habitats, the back of rural villages and to the vast expanses of the Negombo Lagoon. You will also see a number of fishermen at work. These canals were built during the period of Dutch rule where Cinnamon and other spices were transported to the coastal harbours from further inland. A number of water birds including different species of Heron, Bittern, Kingfishers and raptors can be encountered along with Bengal Water Monitors.

Morning, leave for Kandy stopping en-route at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. which is home to the largest captive herd of elephants in the country.

Afterwards, proceed to your hotel in Kandy and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

In the morning, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, which is the largest of Sri Lanka’s botanical gardens with over 4,000 different species of plants and is regarded among the finest in Asia.

This morning, travel by train on an observation deck carriage to Nanu Oya enjoying a scenic rail journey with panoramic views of the highlands as you pass through numerous tea fields, patches of cloud forests and waterfalls.

Upon your arrival in Nanu Oya station transfer to your hotel and spend the remainder of the evening at leisure.

Morning, visit the Ambewala New Zealand Farm, where the cows from New Zealand can be seen grazing freely in the meadows. A guided tour of the production manufacturing areas are also provided. The farm also cultivates different varieties of vegetables like seed potatoes, and vegetables such as lettuce, carrot, cauliflower and cucumber.

Afterwards, return to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. You have the option of visiting a Straweberry Farm on the way back to the hotel.

Spend the morning exploring Nuwara Eliya, which is the country’s highest elevated town. One of the picturesque attractions of the town is Lake Gregory, which his located close to the town, nestled at the bottom of small hills. A leisurely walk around or boat ride in the lake are some of the popular activities at Lake Gregory. A visit to the Victoria Park is also worthwhile, which is situated at the center of the town, and is one of the best maintained town parks in South Asia. A leisurely stroll around its beautifully manicured gardens is always a pleasure.

After breakfast, leave for Yala.

Morning, visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. The Green Turtle, Leatherback Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Olive Ridley and the Loggerhead Turtle are among five of the world’s seven species of sea turtles that nest on the beaches of Sri Lanka. Kosgoda remains one of the main nesting sites for sea turtles on the west coast and the hatcheries collect the most recently laid eggs and re-bury them in protected areas. Once the eggs hatch, the baby turtles are kept for a day or two in a tank prior to being released back into the ocean.

Morning at leisure by the beach.

In the afternoon, go on a scenic boat journey along the Madu Ganga which takes you through the estuary of the river which comprises of dense mangrove forests and 64 islands. One of the islands has a Buddhist monastery which is decorated with some sculptures and art work, the highlight being a 150 year old book made of palm leaves. You can see the local villagers extract cinnamon oil from the trees. If traveling in the early evening, you may also see the prawn fishermen at work in their canoes lighting lanterns in order to attract the shellfish towards their traps.
